Garber-Chevy Youth Baseball Winner! (update)
As many of you know Garber Chevrolet in Green Cove Springs, has been sponsoring the Green Cove Springs Athletic Association for the past three years through a Chevrolet and Major League Baseball program called Chevrolet Youth Baseball.
In 2006 Chevrolet teamed-up with Major League Baseball and Chevrolet Dealerships to create the Chevrolet Youth Baseball Program. Since 2006 the program has Given Community Youth Baseball programs the opportunity to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars through Donations in Equipment, T-Shirts, a $500 dollar check from their local Chevrolet Dealership and a unique fund raising opportunity.
The program sponsors a sweepstakes that allows participants to provide a donation to their local Youth Baseball League in exchange for a chance to win a new vehicle. ALL donations collected by each individual league stayed with that League to assist with their effort to provide for their leagues needs. This Year Chevrolet offered a Chevrolet Malibu or a Chevrolet Equinox as the Grand Prize.
Joe Riley from Garber Chevrolet announced today “We are excited to recognize Dawn Johnson, of Green Cove Springs, as the official Grand Prize winner in the Chevrolet Youth Baseball program for the South Eastern United States.”
Dawn Johnson was notified on July 16th, , by Chevrolet, that she was the unofficial grand prize winner and has since claimed the Chevrolet Equinox as her prize! Joe Riley said, “I have been involved with this program for the past three years and can tell you that the Green Cove Springs Athletic Association and Garber Chevrolet is dedicated to this program! Because of the fund raising potential they have been able to assist families that could not otherwise afford to allow their children participate in their baseball program and provide needed equipment to their players.
Dawn Johnson had a 1 in 88,000 chance to win the Grand prize as there were 300 dealerships that participated region wide from North Carolina to Florida.
Ron Harris, managing partner of the Garber Automall said “We are extremely excited that we have had the opportunity to be involved in assisting our local community and youth. To have a local resident as a grand prize winner is great news!”
The G.C.S.A.A. Is a charitable organization and relies on sponsorships from local business' to be able to purchase equipment, maintain their baseball fields, pay the utility bills and assist families that cannot afford to allow their children to play baseball. Garber Chevrolet has provided 10 equipment kits along with a $500 dollar donation and other opportunities to raise money each year for the past three years.

Keeping Kids Safe Project hosted at Garber Automall
This past Friday and Saturday over 500 children were photographed and fingered printed by the Keeping Kids Safe Project hosted at Garber Automall's GM facility. With more and more youngsters disappearing every day the Keeping Kids Safe Project helps bring awareness to this ever growing problem. Parents were given all of the records recorded by the project which they can in turn give to Law Enforcement officials in the unfortunate event that their child is abducted or disappears. Announcement flyers were distributed to all of the local schools prior to the event. Representatives from local Law Enforcement, Fire and Rescue and Red Cross were also in attendance. A local dance troupe performed and PAK's Karate Academy of Orange Park also gave a demonstration of their martial arts skills. KinderCare in Eagle Harbor was also on hand with information on their services. This is the 6th year that Garber Automall has been involved with Child Safety programs and plans are already in the works for next year's event.

An excerpt from our December Holiday e-newsletter
During this very special time of year with the hustle and bustle of Holidays, we sometimes lose track of the things that really mean the most, our friends, family and loved ones. The entire Garber family wishes to send this special wish for you and yours for a wonderful and joyous Holiday season.
With another year nearly passed and the New Year just around the corner we are especially thankful that you are a part of our Garber extended family. Because of you we have now been in business for 102 years. Because of your faith and trust in us we have had good fortune in times when others have not. For this we are eternally grateful. In the end there would be no us without you!
With stimulus packages, cash for clunkers and any number of somewhat confusing economic indicators we wanted you to know that our outlook for the future is very, very bright. Because of you 2009 was a good year and we are anxiously looking forward to 2010. Whether you are considering a vehicle purchase or simply needing an oil change, we look forward to serving you. If you need anything prior to the Holidays as always, we are here. If not we look forward to seeing you again next year! Again, have a wonderful and safe Holiday season.

Salvation Army Angel Giving Tree at Garber
For nearly a decade Garber Automall has participated in the Angel Giving Tree program through our local Salvation Army. Each year nearly one hundred Angel gift bags are filled by Garber Automall employees. If you are not familiar with this program we strongly urge you to look into it. Whether for yourself or your business this is a wonderful way to share the Holiday Spirit of Giving with those who are less fortunate. You can choose your own Angel or Angels and give them something special from you and yours this Christmas. This program has been extended through December 14th so there is very little time to get involved. Don't miss out on this chance to spread the true meaning of the season.

What is your favorite car? Weigh in here.
In so much as this is our business, we thought we would stir it up good with our first post. As a dealership it is very hard to say what our favorite car is. The one we sell the most? The newest model? The fastest one? We wanted to invite our friends on the web (Facebook and Twitter friends, etc) to weigh in on their favorite car. Not the one you feel is the best car based on a Motor Trend or Car and Driver article, but your favorite and why. Maybe it was your first car or your dream car, whatever. Tells us and our friends and fellow posters, bloggers and friends all about it!
